About Us
We are a local Chess Club at El Camino High School in Oceanside, California
Joining The Team
To join the club is rather simple: just show up at lunch to Room 629 on a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday! There are, however, some rules and expectations that should be kept in mind:

Attendance is expected at least once a week.

Enjoy the game of Kings and Queens!

While you may be of any skill level, we do expect you to want to get even slightly better at the game.

Food, drink, and friends are welcome, but do please try to clean up after yourselves.

To join in tournaments, you must be willing to be flexible in schedule and available.

Emails and other notifications will be sent out notifying of changes in schedules, announcements, and other assorted news. Please provide an email or other method of communication that you check.

Information For You
We currently meet every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during lunch in Room 629 where our Mentor and Coach Mr. Chamber lets us use chess boards and pieces. We have a small team of 25-30 players which is mostly made up of upper class men. We not only are working on growing but also meeting up more often. We focus upon casual game play and enjoyment, with friendly competition to stir up energy and motivation. Players of all skill levels and capabilities are welcome, as we are more than glad to be able to share our insight and love of the game with others.
Do I need to know chess?
Chess is a game that requires concentration and mental multi tasking. It does not require meditation or psychological warfare – although that might help you have fun or win.
Is chess right for me?
Chess may be the game of kings and queens, but is also a game for friends and compatriots. As such, we find it is best to play chess in a friendly environment, and we’re always open to having more friends join and learning new tricks and strategies from each other
